Restaurants winston salem8/3/2023 I ordered the fried chicken strips and sweet potato waffle fries! I loved that the chicken was in strips and not a large piece of chicken with bones in it as many places will serve. if she wasn't sure, she would go check and even bring "samples" for the guests to try to make sure it was something they could eat! This is ABOVE AND BEYOND! We ordered the fried green tomatoes and okra for appetizer and the sweet potato cornbread, both were SO yummy! The cornbread disappeared and we could have eaten more, but the entrees were on the way. We had a vegan and a vegetarian and Michelle was VERY knowledgeable about the ingredients of everything on the menu and weather or not it was within those requirements. She tipped the scale from a 4 rating to a 5 after our cool "greeting" on arrival! With a large group, you often have unique dietary requirements and that was our group. She was so friendly, efficient, accommodating and kind! The very essence of southern hospitality. Her name was Michelle and I will ALWAYS ask for her station when eating here. Once we were seated, our waitress came by immediately. We stepped up to the bar to gat some beverages and although the bartender was tending bar by himself (and it was busy) he was very friendly and efficient. Perhaps she was having a bad day because EVERYONE else was AMAZING!). (She didn't have a name tag on but had reddish brown hair. She didn't great us but just said the wait would be 30 minutes and I told her that was perfectly fine at which time she then asked for the number in our party and for our cell number. When we arrived, the hostess wasn't very hospitable or welcoming (which is why I put "mostly" in the title of the review). It appeared that there was an "early crowd" that was just finishing up so the timing was perfect for our larger group. They don't take reservations even for large parties, but we only waited about 20 minutes for a table so that wasn't bad at all on a Friday evening at 6:30 (peak. We had a group of 8 of us and wanted to go for dinner. So, so disappointed with our entire experience!! More To top it off I get home with my most favorite Shrimp and Grits to find there is no bbq sauce on it, only cheese. We said no we’ll just take it to go because we were so mad. She just stammers looking around and start like she can get us in now. The hostess then asked us our names and we told her and said we ordered to go because she had told us she was no longer taking names for the list. We both stood there staring with our mouths wide open behind our masks. While we were standing there 3 different parties came in and the hostess took their names to put on the list. While we waited we walked down to get dessert at Cheesecake by Alex (wonderful!) and walked back to wait for our order. We arrived at about 6:05pm and were told that they were no longer taking names for their waiting list but we could. We have loved this restaurant and have rarely had a single complaint but tonight my husband and I were dumbfounded at our experience.
